If you spend any time with Amy Drinkwater, it won’t be long before you find
yourself encircled by the warmth of laughter and friendship that gives you a
feeling that you have known her much longer than a few minutes. It has been
said that Amy has an effervescent personality, a vivacious spirit and a
contagious laugh that draws her into your heart. Her desire is to minister to
others by using her gifts not only to sing but to encourage and to share the
message of redemption and salvation through Jesus Christ.
Amy has been married to James Drinkwater for 22 years. They currently make
their home in Cropwell, Alabama, where they are owned exclusively by their 2
cats, Evelyn and Mildred. They have been
members at First Baptist Church, Pell City, Alabama for over 20 years.
Although Amy has spent time in many different vocations as a teacher,
motivational speaker, and marketing specialist, her deepest passion has been to
encourage her audiences to know Jesus, deepen their relationship with Him and
discover their unique purpose and passion according to His good will. She recorded her first solo at the tender age of 2 and the stage has been a comfortable home for her since that time. She enjoys encouraging and leading women in
Bible study and plans to attend seminary to further her study of spiritual
gifting and counseling soon. She
currently works as a motivational speaker/singer with Stonecroft Ministries and
directs and manages the Women’s Discipleship program at First Baptist Church,
Pell City.
Amy has had the awesome privilege of working with some of the finest coaches
and musicians around, including Randall Richardson at Samford University, Roger
Beale of The Voice House, Atlanta Georgia and Ray Reach, of the Alabama Jazz
Hall of Fame and owner of Magic City Music Productions. Amy is a two time upper
level finalist in a major contemporary Christian vocal competition at the
Babbie Mason Music Conference International. She's shared her testimony all over the Southeast and has performed concerts in churches, secular venues and was honored to perferm at the prestigious
Carnegie Hall with her band in 2006. She
has released 2 solo albums and another with the group Inspiration and has plans
in the works for another one in the near future.
Amy calls her ministry “Sunflower Ministries” for several reasons. The
sunflower historically represents adoration and is considered by her to be a
happy, functional flower. Its seeds and oil provide nourishment and its big
yellow blooms shine so brightly, much like the reflection of the sun. Her goal
in ministry is to sow seeds of faith and encouragement and to be a reflection
of the love of Jesus Christ and to lead others to know the true joy that comes
in serving Him.
